Our story

Kapa.ai was founded by Emil Soerensen and Finn Bauer, two Computer Science postgrads from Imperial College London, who were exploring the potential of LLMs and embeddings for information retrieval and question-answering systems. Backed by Y Combinator (S23) and a $3.2M seed round led by Initialized Capital.

In early 2023, tech companies started reaching out about their support teams being overwhelmed with repetitive technical questions, despite having comprehensive documentation. That validated the problem Kapa was built to solve. Today, 200+ teams including OpenAI, Docker, Grafana, and Monday.com use Kapa to power AI assistants across their docs, Slack, Discord, Zendesk, and more.
